About
My teaching experience has allowed me to work with students from diverse backgrounds in a variety of contexts. I have taught at a public elementary school in Texas, the Chicago Children’s Museum and at The Art Institute of Chicago. In addition, I have taught at the secondary level, an after school program, and summer camp at the Dallas Museum of Art. During my tenure as an art teacher at the elementary level, I cultivated knowledge of the visual arts through projects that emphasized creative problem solving and communication through visual expression to over 400 students. I truly believe that art empowers students to share their life experience, and to see the perspectives of others in a meaningful and powerful way.
For museums and public schools, I have created and facilitated educational programs for youth, family, adults and audiences with special needs. A BFA in Visual Arts Studies and Education and an MA in Museum Studies with a focus on Art History and Education has prepared me to be an innovative educator that consistently seeks the best methods of instruction for all learners.
